Jay played a pivotal role in the design and development of Chambers Bay, one of the most innovative public golf courses in the United States. As project architect for Robert Trent Jones II, Jay was deeply involved in shaping the site from the initial design meetings in 2003 through its opening in 2007. His hands-on approach and creative vision helped transform a former sand and gravel mine into a dramatic, links-style layout on the shores of Puget Sound.
Jay’s incorporation of ribbon tees, heaving fairways, wild greens, giant sandscapes and more set Chambers Bay apart from all other courses the firm had crafted.. His work at Chambers Bay contributed to the course hosting major championships, including the 2015 U.S. Open, fulfilling his childhood dream of designing a U.S. Open course.
